Yesterday I attended a networking event where everyone was invited to say a few words about their business. When it was my turn I talked about my mission to empower women to stop thinking small and dream big, to have the courage to listen to their inner wisdom. So often we think, “Is this goal too big or too crazy?” For many of us, myself included, those dreams are not big enough!
This reminds me of the Marianne Williamson quote, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. […] Your playing small does not serve the world. […] And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
“Your playing small does not serve the world.” What a mouthful, right? That’s a lesson that is ever so slowly sinking in for me. Do you boldly declare who you are and why you matter? Or do you quietly hope someone will notice your gifts and nurture that? I’m somewhere in between and excited about the journey.
After the event, I was approached by 2 different organizations. They’ve invited me to speak at their events to inspire women entrepreneurs. Thank you to all my friends and clients: your courage inspires me to raise my hand when opportunities come along!
