I’m here in NYC right now and about halfway through my time here. I’ve met up with so many people; clients, editors, photographers, artists, producers, etc.
Last night I had the major realization that I can no longer wait for permission. The Fine Art world is perceived to be exclusive, rarefied and unreachable. This may be so but I can’t continue to view others as gatekeepers. Instead of waiting for someone to accept or approve of me I can actually create those opportunities. The whole time I was holding myself back. I’ve been applying for various opportunities and waiting to hear back from them. Then it clicked for me that I can choose another route. The perception of the obstacle is more powerful than the obstacle itself.
What are ways you give yourself permission to just live your life?
