Today is Thanksgiving and my heart is overflowing with gratitude. There are so many things to be thankful for but most of all I’m grateful to share experiences with others. Learning, giving, exchanging; for when everything else falls away what else is there but the memories of every one we have ever affected?
I asked my client, “What do you want to share with men and women about your experience of working together?” and this was his response:
“Daphne has the gift of being able to really listen, listen to that inner voice of the client who is longing and yearning to break free from his/her day-to-day constraints and become that someone that even those closest to you will say, when they see the end product from the photo shoot— “Wow! I never saw that in you!”, which as we all know can either be a good or bad reaction depending on the nature of our relationship with the speaker. But whatever their reaction may be, what really matters most is how Daphne has helped you, no matter how brief the period from your shoot to its conclusion, to explore that inner unnameable often-uncomfortable risky self through her camera. But when the shoot is done and the viewing and printing have been made, rest assured that in your decision to give a platform to that inner you, you will never ever hurt like that again.” -Ian
“You will never hurt like that again.” Oh to help another person along their journey to self-acceptance is…priceless.
