Two years ago I became friends with Marsha Lane Foster. Since then I’ve had the privilege of working with her as a creative business coach and watching her career soar to heights she hadn’t even imagined. In Feb 2016 she’ll have her solo exhibition of Lane Foster Fine Art Photography-The Hostage Project and I couldn’t be prouder!
What is creative business coaching? If you want to know more, feel free to contact me to learn about how you can discover your fundamental strengths as an artist!
Marsha was kind enough to add these words:
“A bit of a throwback blog post from my mentor, my friend and a favorite artist Daphne Chan:
Do what you love because you love it.
During the Hostage Project I suspended viewing of other photographer’s work in order to keep what I was creating pure: pure to me. I’m not saying I did everything that had never been done before, but the concepts came organically and not as an emulation of any other. Layla Fields Dyke and I collaborated, took cues from contributors, talked out our feelings and let the shoots evolve from that.
Now that my creative life has begun I’m taking this vow:
I’ll Do What I Love Because I Love It.
Thank you Daphne. You’ve made a lasting impression on me. My dreams always seemed just outside my reach. Now they are in the palm of my hand.” She was referring to this past blog post of mine: There is not one definition of success in photography, but if I had to write one, I would say this: Success is when you are creating something that excites you and the process of making is fulfilling.
